The latest update to AR5 is now here, bringing with it a number of improvements to our suite of tools for front-end design. Themes have been expanded to include more types of page content, and you can now create and define custom module styles that you can apply, on the fly, to modules on the page. Let's take a closer look.

AR5 version 5.1.0.2, which is live now, expands and improves AR5's publication controls. With publication controls, you can determine what appears on your site and when. There are now two ways of controlling publication, the publish button and the publication dates, and they can be used for pages, modules, and form fields. Let's take a closer look.

These release notes take us through two updates. The first, version 5.1.0.0, includes a variety of under-the-hood changes that improve AR5's scalability. The other, version 5.1.0.1, is a smaller release that’s live now and includes some quality-of-life updates to records management for both forms and members. Let’s take a closer look at what’s new.

In this latest update to AR5, version 5.0.4.0, we've added a number of new controls to improve and complement our existing set of design-to-web features. The spotlight is on styles and layout today as we review what's new, what's improved, and how it all works. Let's take a look!

AR5 Users,

Version 5.0.3.9 is now live, bringing with it some updates to page info management that simplify and improve the pages workflow, including a new, more intuitive approach to page names and headings. Also included is the brand new articles tab on journal pages.

This update expands previews for back end modules to include all module types, so that you can see your changes as you save them. Also included is the new member directory module, which you can use to present member data on the front end. Rounding out the release are some other minor features and fixes.

This takes you through login and provides an introduction to getting around in AR5.

In AR5, you can plan your website as you create it. With the pages index and page details view, you can build your website from the top down or from the bottom up—or do a little bit of both. AR5 is flexible enough that you can always feel confident trying out new things.

The Section module is the primary tool for putting content on a page in AR5, and it is by far the most-used module type. You can use it to add headings, images, and text to pages, and you can add hyperlinks to any of these elements via the Link wizard. Once a section has been assigned to a page, the Options panel provides several controls for fine-tuning style and reworking layout on the fly. By combining and arranging several sections on a page and specifying the look of each one independently, you can achieve sophisticated page layouts on your website that rival what you would expect from a traditional desktop publishing system.

AR5's calendar module allows you to display information about upcoming events on your website. Events are created, managed, and assigned to calendars on AR5's events page, which can be accessed from the content menu in the primary nav.

A Journal page can be created for your blog, news, press releases, or any other purpose where publishing Articles is needed. You can create as many Journal pages as needed, and Articles can be assigned to more than one Journal at a time.

To add an article to a journal, start by navigating to content > articles from the AR5 primary nav. On the articles page, open the filter panel by clicking the white disclosure arrow on the blue filter bar. You'll see a list of available journals. Select one or more journals to see articles in the table below. In the table, articles that are published will appear in blue, and unpublished articles will appear in grey. You can also select "unassigned" in the filter panel to see articles that aren't assigned to any journal.

The Feed module allows you to pull content from a variety of sources and display it in a single, automatically populating block on your page. You can display articles from journals, events from calendars, comments from articles, or you can use external sources.

The Gallery allows you to display items on your page, one after the other. Sections and HTML modules are what you use for gallery items, and you can add them to galleries in much the same way that you would add them to pages.

The HTML module can be used for embedding videos, maps, or any custom html, javascript or css code.
